Ingredients we use in our soaps:
Tomato based soaps are very effective for treating oily skin.
Also know as citronella grass. The principal chemical constituents of citronella, geraniol and citronellol, are antiseptics, hence their use in household disinfectants and soaps. It is also a natural anti-fungal & insect repellant.
Spearmint is often cultivated for its aromatic and carminative oil, referred to as oil of spearmint. The antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties of spearmint essential Oil make it a very good disinfectant. Menthol is known for stimulating mental activity and enhancing mood.
Menthol activates cold-sensitive TRPM8 receptors in the skin and mucosal tissues, and is the primary source of the cooling sensation that follows the topical application of peppermint oil. It is widely used in soap making due to its aromatic and antimicrobial nature as well as its toning properties.
We use beeswax in some of our soaps & body butters. When blended with creams & lotions, it provides a protective barrier on the surface of the skin. We find that it also adds to the creaminess and texture of our soaps & butters.
Lemon oil may be used in aromatherapy. Researchers at The Ohio State University found that lemon oil aroma does not influence the human immune system, but may enhance mood. The low pH of juice makes it antibacterial. Lemon zest enhances the smell and texture of our soap.
Carrot seed oil has a high level of antioxidants that may help to prevent damage caused by free radicals that can harm healthy cells. It is used in many skin care products and is especially effective for dry, sun-damaged skin or mature, wrinkled skin. Speak to your doctor before using products with carrot seed oil to treat any skin conditions.
Calendula oil is still used medicinally. The oil of C. officinalis is used as an anti-inflammatory, an anti-tumor agent, and a remedy for healing wounds. Plant pharmacological studies have suggested that Calendula extracts have anti-viral, anti-genotoxic, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Combats acne and helps to lighten age spots. Promotes smoothness and even skin tone. Decrease inflammation. Increase radiance to skin. CAUTION! Ginger or ginger oil can cause allergic skin reactions such as rashes, hives, redness or other skin irritations. If you have sensitive skin, avoid using ginger root oil.
Coffee has excellent skin toning benefits and the ground coffee acts as a natural exfoliant. It helps to leave the skin smooth, acne free and revitalized.
